MAM CARE SERVICES LTD
SEND & Accessing Education, Support
Health and care support within education settings.
We provide specialist health and care support for children and young people with additional needs within education settings. We do not deliver education or teaching; instead, we work alongside schools and PT's to support children’s health, wellbeing, and ability to access learning safely and comfortably

Children and young people have a fundamental right to receive education, and a statutory right to receive specific provisions when they are in receipt of an Education, Health and Care plan.
There are many children and young people with health conditions who find it a challenge to
attend education or receive alternative sources of education even when they have an EHCP in
place. This challenge is often compounded when education providers do not have access to
the support that needs to be arranged around the child, especially where the individual has
health needs that extend past the level of training or skills available from within their own
staff structure.
MAM care is passionate about supporting and working with education providers to support
and ensure that individuals on their roll can continue to attend where reasonably possible,
AND to deliver a diverse approach that enables access to education even at times where it is
too difficult to attend school.
Please call MAM Care to speak to our SEND lead to discuss your individual needs and
challenges. We are happy to speak to education providers, parents or carers and young people
to discuss your needs.
How we Support

Existing Education Setting
Our carers support children in a range of education environments including
-
Mainstream Schools
-
Specialist and SEND Schools
-
Alternative Education Provisions
-
Education other than in settings/school
-
Elective Home Education
We work in support of the education provider, following the direction of teachers, teaching assistants, and SENCOs, while ensuring the child’s health, care, and wellbeing needs are met throughout the school day using a delegated approach.

Partnership with Schools & Families
We work collaboratively with:
-
Families
-
Schools and education providers
-
SENCOs and teaching staff
-
Health and therapy professionals
This ensures care support aligns with the child’s wider education and care plans, including EHCPs, while respecting the role and responsibilities of education staff.

Sensory Support at Home
In addition to education-based support, we provide an intergrated sensory approach within the home environment, helping children feel regulated, engaged, and supported in their everyday routines. This includes:
-
Designing individual sensory and play plans tailored to the child
-
Supporting therapeutic programmes recommended by professionals
-
Using play to support regulation, communication, and engagement
Our approach is guided by professional input and focuses on enhancing the child’s experience through functional action, understanding and delivery

Safe, Skilled & Consistent Support
Before support begins, we complete a comprehensive assessment and develop a child-specific care and support plan in collaboration with families, schools, and healthcare professionals. Our carers receive individualised training relevant to the child’s health and sensory needs and must demonstrate competency before working independently in education settings.
Ongoing clinical oversight ensures care remains safe, consistent, and appropriate within the school environment.

How we Support
Our role focuses on care, health, and wellbeing, enabling children to engage with education safely. Support may include:
-
One-to-one health and care support in the classroom
-
Support with sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing
-
Assistance with behaviour regulation in line with developed strategies

Clinical care where required within the education setting

-
Promoting independence while maintaining safety

CYP Lead
We get to know our children and young adults personally to know exactly what stimulates and enriches their development and wellbeing.
We follow their lead and ensure they are heard and not just seen.
OUR SEND LEAD
Our Education and SEND support is led by a highly experienced clinical lead with extensive experience delivering health and care support within education settings. Michelle has a 35-year history of supporting systems to prioritise children and young people’s access to education and to build provision in line with the needs of CYP finding it challenging to access education. She has worked for many years as a Designated Clinical Officer (DCO), giving her a
strong understanding of SEND systems, multi-agency working, and the responsibilities required of education providers. She also has experience contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and works closely and effectively with schools and families delivering EOTAS packages, ensuring care support aligns appropriately with educational provision. At MAM Care, we are passionate about ensuring children and young people are supported to access appropriate education in a way that meets their individual needs. We believe care extends beyond medical and physical support — it includes sensory play, engagement, and meaningful experiences that promote development and wellbeing. Every child has the right to play, and we recognise play as a vital part of caring for children, supporting learning, regulation, and quality of life.
